Meet Maurice

Maurice L. Mitchell is a native of Flint, MI. He has three amazing children to which he refers to as his oxygen, “I cannot breathe without them,” he often attests. Maurice is currently a nationally Certified Surgical Technologist-Specialist and loves his job. For the past six and a half years, assisting surgeons in skillful, safe, and life changing surgical procedures have helped Maurice stay focused and appreciate life. When Maurice is not writing, you can find him spending quality time with his children, listening to music, watching movies, or working out-possibly followed by eating a slice of red velvet cake.

This newly rising author has had a passion for writing and has dreamed of becoming an author since he was a kid. It was his fifth-grade teacher, tenth grade teacher, and a college professor who each told Maurice that they believed he would one day become an author. That dream finally came true.

His strength to endure trauma which was caused by sexual child abuse, other hardships, and his willingness to share the true intimacies of his life’s story continue to prove how much he really wants to help make the world a better place. Maurice wants his book to encourage those who may be facing or have faced his same struggles of depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and any other setbacks (that have the potential to discourage anyone from fulfilling their purpose in life) to hang on to hope and believe without a doubt that everything is going to be alright.
